that smug pic of her just screams liberal elitism. Every major religion has oppressive elements, but when you criticize them, it doesn’t happen in a vacuum. The USA loves using liberal talking points to justify their imperialist adventures. It’s easy to get conservatives to support their wars (patriotism, support the troops) but for liberals to fully support their wars, US imperialism use identity politics, so they present themselves as liberators of LGBT, women, and other minorities.

Yet Islamism is the opposite of decolonisation, because the aim is to impose Islam as a state religion, which always goes hand in hand with violence, coercion, expulsion and oppression. Islamism does not bring liberation to anyone and itself contains a colonialist claim to power.

This is fucking nonsensical; decolonized/precolonized/non-colonized societies aren’t always free from oppression or violence, and the attitude that decolonization efforts are only valid if they’re angelically free from sin is both patronizing and stinks of rationalizing colonization as justified because the natives would be too savage without it.

Regardless, the fundamental issue with her stance is that even if there was perfect repudiation of Hamas/Hezbollah/Iran by everyone sympathetic to Palestinians, that would do exactly nothing to change Israel’s position and policies on Palestinians. There is no magical “respectable” stance that will make Israel respect the humanity of Palestinians.
