Hey Everyone, I have Comcast and pay for the 1200Mbps service (overkill but got it on a deal and it’s only 10$ more than the 50Mbps service)
I put in a multi AP home network system about 3 years ago. It’s a TP-Link Omada system with 3 EAP245 access points. About 3 months ago I started having issues with streaming. It was really only an issue of slow connection speeds with my GoogleTV4Ks, so I swapped them out for AppleTV 4ks, thinking they had better WiFi antenna’s and it seemed to be better.
However the past few days, all my devices are showing speeds on my 5ghz network of less than 20Mbps. My 2.4ghz network shows ever slower speeds, often on 5-6Mbps. Same with my iPhone and laptop. These are all in Speedtest.net app. However, if I test my iPhone in the Xfinity app, the speed goes up to 500-600Mbps. Same with fast.com, and it also applies to my laptop. When I downloaded a game on steam, steam client got up to 500Mbps.
Any idea why Speedtest is showing such slow speeds?
Do you use Comcast Xfinity DNS name server? Can you try the same tests with a VPN enabled? Have you tried a computer or device hardwired to the router?
It could be Xfinity, it could also be hardware. It could also, since it was a sudden change be some type of interference.
