ive never quite enjoyed the term fediverse. i realized recently ive been utilizing ‘fediverse’ and ‘federation’ interchangeably to the point i made a thing, and didnt notice until after i posted it
so, can i do that or am i gunna get spanked by le pedants for being a moron?
Federation is how two different instances are able to communicate within the Fediverse. The current worldwide email system is also based on the idea of federation, but it is not within the Fediverse. Hope that clears it up a bit!

Federation is the process by which content and interactions are aggregated and shared between all instances
They’re definitely not interchangeable words.
