Is reddit really that unaffected? Are tech media companies keeping quiet on purpose? Is the Play app giving more artificial visibility to reddit app VS fediverse apps? It feels like all the mainstream centralized social platforms and search engines (Google) are censoring any updates on reddit’s status to maintain a status quo. What are your thoughts?

Consider taking the tinfoil hat off mate. Try to think about this logically - what seems to be the more likely explanation as to why you haven’t seen many articles? That there haven’t been any significant developments - which is simply true - and thus there haven’t been many news stories about them, or that Google has decided to actively censor stories that do not exist about events which have not happened.

I’d love to understand your reasoning; it seems very interesting.

It is not newsworthy when there is no new development. Most people don’t care, they continue using Twitter, Facebook, Reddit no matter what.

We (fediverse users) are not “normal” people. And I am proud of being different.

I don’t think reddit has taken a very large hit by many messurable metrics as of now. The damage that is done is more cultural and will have downsides for the website more long term.

I wouldn’t say it’s unaffected. The quality of the content has dropped, less people are posting which makes the feeds look and feel stagnant, and some subs are just gone now. Whether or not that stays the same months or years from now, who can say?

I don’t think any censorship is happening though. Reddit is still very much an internet subculture thing and fediverse apps even more niche.
