Not that it’s relevant anymore, but I think they ought to have done more than match. OpenAI staff work at a much smaller, more focused company where they are closer to leadership, and making headlines around the world. Getting swallowed by a giant corporation is a far less interesting proposition, and is generally only accepted along with some fat golden handcuffs.
