I like the songs and its vibe/soul when listening Taylor Swiftās early albums.
Whether those are country or pop or teen or love songs, I really (and still) get hooked by:
- its simple melodies (but not so colorful but at least appreciative),
- its simple sounds/instruments (but not so magnificent but at least interesting),
- and its really awesome lyrics and its story by her.
- and of course her voice (not so astounding nor distinct but at least very good)
So, her songs has really influenced my musical preference especially when growing up.
So now,
despite maybe because Iām already adult or because Iām not well anymore gathering new music,
Iām still looking for new music/song/album or new/current other music artists with that kind such as hersā
āas I hardly create for myself my playlist of current (at least 2020-present) music. Of course, I want a diversity of awesome and beautiful music (rock, alternative, grunge, urban or āRNBā such as Ne-Yo, disco and soft and so more). But I havenāt been amazed/hooked by the current music Iām receiving/hearing anywhere today. I have tried to keep listening those from the charts, mainstream playlists or most mentioned artists, yet I havenāt been amazed like how I did by Taylorās despite Iām not really a fan of her.
So if you could introduce someone to me to search, Are there any other ānewā music or new/current artists with that kind such as hers (artists likely endorsed by her as I already consider her a great artist)?
It does not really have to be so much similar to her songs (so it can be grunge, ballad or urban). Iām referring to the āvibe/soul/somewhat-acting-as-if-I-musically-feel-that-thereās-a-drama-scene-or-personality/sound/something I canāt clearly describe sorryā upon the songs that sheās singing/playing.
So to understand what Iām referring to, here are selected current songs I like and still keep playing are:
- āUntil I Found Youā by Stephen Sanchez (way mostly among the current ones, Iām single š btwāwhat I mean is that song is a sentimental love song for rejoicing love couples, and I felt attached even I donāt have a girlfriend.)
- āHere With Meā by d4vd (becoming less frequently)
- āSparkā by Ed Sheeran (becoming less frequently)
- āFoolish Oneā by Taylor Swift
- āVampireā by Olive Rodrigo (Iām not sure as Iām getting hooked right now) 6 āSay Soā by Doja Cat (becoming less frequently)
- ā¦ Thatās it I can fondly recall. I have tried to think from 2020 farther. But thatās it I bravely mentioned.
I will just bravely mention some (too much so 22) selected (ouch-old/past) popular songs that I straight recall and like and songs that I keep mesmerizing and playing in my repeating playlist (just to reveal partially at least and hint my preference):
- āSo Sickā by Neyo
- āJust the Way You Areā and āIt Will Rainā by Bruno Mars
- āThinking Out Loudā by Ed Sheeran
- āChasing Pavementsā by Adele
- āYour Guardian Angelā by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus (And I miss those rock songs)
- āBad Dayā by Daniel Powter
- āThis Loveā and āI Wonāt Go Home Without Youā by Maroon 5 (also miss hearing such kind)
- āComplicatedā and āIām With Youā by Avril Lavigne
- āTwo Less Lonely People in the Worldā and āEven the Nights Are Betterā and āHere I Amā by Air Supply (one of artist I like most)
- āIf You Asked Me Toā and āI Love Youā by Celine Dion
- āAge Aināt Nothing But a Numberā by Aaliyah (I just ignore its unwanted lyrics.)
- āYouāre My Inspirationā by Chicago (I like listening other songs similar to this another kind)
- āNever Forget Youā and āAlways Be My Babyā by Mariah Carey (Iām a real fan)
- āGonna Get Along Without You Nowā by Skeeter Davis
- āLoverās Moonā and āThe One You Loveā by Glenn Frey
- āTake A Bowā and āUnfaithfulā by Rihanna
- āSometimesā by Britney Spears
- āDonāt Say You Love Meā and āOld Town @ MTVā by the Corrs
- āI Will Always Love Youā by Dolly Parton (more than Whitney)
- āIām Saving All My Love For Youā by Whitney Houston
- āKiss Meā and āDonāt Dream Itās Overā by Sixpence None The Richer
- āWhen Youāre Goneā and āZombieā by The Cranberries
- ā¦ of course many more and more but I will just stop here.
Iād be also interested but Iām terrible at finding new music. My only great choice you already have and thatās Olivia Rodrigo, I definitely think sheās the punk evolution of Taylor for sure. I need to get on a music service and start branching out more.
Iām having a marathon (in my free and chill time) to Olivia Rodrigoās music because Iām getting hooked by her latest song āVampireā just like how I got hooked by āDriverās Licenseā and āDeja vuā.
itās hard to say I like it, as itās still fresh as of now, so let me see few months later. But to understand my criteria, I still listen to āUntil I Found Youā by Stephen Sanchez even this week, after I discovered it last November. So, I definitely like his song, one of the few songs I like in the present since 2020 that I put in my repeating playlists.
I have been obsessed with Vampire, itās so damn catchy and I canāt get it out of my head. i was hesitant to be excited for Guts because a lot of times artists go in their own heads and canāt pull off album 2, but this time it sounds like itās going to be out of the park
And now, while having my Oliviaās music marathon still, thereās already Billie Eilishās new song āWhat I Was Made For?ā. Good treats maybe are coming!!!
I feel like it got buried by releasing on the same day as Midnights but the vibe of The Loneliest Time by Carly Rae Jepsen has a rather similar vibe to Taylorās and in fact her whole song writing career probably would appeal to a lot of Taylor fans. Especially the Emotion, Dedicated albums and The Loneliest Time.
i cannot describe in words the picture i get from this list, but i do get a picture. here are some other things iād have tried on the other walls. most of these arenāt their most recent but have stylistic similarities
- crowded house self-title: includes the song ādonāt dream itās overā that might be the original version of one you cite above; it seems as popular a cover as ājust like heavenā
- you might like mandy mooreās latest āin real lifeā, very a much a āwho mandy grew intoā album
- or sabrina carpenterās first album, āeyes wide openā, a very ingĆ©nue and almost pop-country album - i thought she might go in that direction and proved very wrong
- or ariana grandeās āsweetenerā, though youāll likely already have heard that
- or foxesā album āgloriousā
- or little mix - try the tracks ālittle meā, ācompetitionā, āalways be togetherā or ātowersā
- or gabriella cilmiās ālessons to be learnedā album, which youāll either love or hate, canāt tell
- or dj encoreās āuniqueā for something a little more electronic but still very emotional
- or the tracks āsee the dayā or āwhole lotta historyā by girls aloud
- or sleepthiefās cover version of berlinās āthe metroā, and if you like that, the whole ādawnseekerā album
- surely youāre familiar with leann rimesās āhow do i liveā and āi will love againā, which i know from lara fabianās version
- for good mexican power ballads, jennifer peƱaās āvivo y muero en tu pielā or belindaās āsal de mi pielā
just a few things that tumble out of my āmass hysteriaā playlist
Thanks for this. I will try to listen at least (Iām getting plenty of music suggestions from everyone to listen hahaha I might make feedbacks here probably next 2-3 months depending how serious Iāll be analyzing while song repeatingācomeback soon hahaha š )
I know very selected songs from Sabrina Carpenter because of my little sibling playing on stereo. No idea of her first album.
Arianaās āSweetenerā Album is āgod is a womanā and āno tears left to cryā (I never got truly hooked by both on that time long ago, but I will try to listen the whole album you suggested.)
I have heard Foxesā name but I believe I heard one song of her but I donāt know the tile.
Anyways thanks and I appreciate this and Iām enjoying knowing artist names suggested by everyoneš.
oh - and nobody asked for miley to cover zombieā¦ but she did it and killed it. itās a bonus track on plastic hearts. (just came up in shuffle)
