First thing in the morning, seated. I can’t be bothered to AIM when I’m that groggy. Other times, usually standing for convenience.

Seated as often as possible (when not at a public toilet of course).

    1. More relaxing
    2. Less chance of making a mess
    3. Maybe you’ve got a cheeky poop to go with it
    4. More time to scroll Lemmy

Quite often kneel (only at home of course), gives you the satisfaction of standing whilst eliminating the risk of unexpected aim.

I’m in my late 30s with kids. The bathroom is the only time I get peace and quiet for a short time, so I take every opportunity to sit and play on my phone. So I sit like 90% of the time…

Pee in the sink, poop in the tub, shave in the toilet. Do people do something different?

I hope this may be the longest, strangest, grossest answer to this question that no one ever expected to read.

I actually collect my urine and add it to my compost heap. It’s not as gross as it sounds. I have a funnel and jug outside my house. The funnel is pinned up at exactly the right height - I just take a step outside, unzip, and let go. It’s actually very refreshing to get a breath of outdoors air a few times a day while relieving myself - standing up. Pretty much the only time I’m in the bathroom is when solids are involved.

Urine is rich in bioavailable nitrogen and phosphorous. Actually quite valuable as an agricultural input. I compost everything I can in a lazy heap and adding urine makes sure I have enough nitrogen to keep the process going strong. Not gonna lie, the jug takes over a week to fill and by then, emptying it does stink for about 30 seconds. But a quick spray down with the garden hose eliminates this. The compost heap needs the moisture anyway and it’s still far less water use than all those toilet flushes would have been. I’ve always felt strange about peeing into cleaner water than 1/3 of the world has to drink.
