So I was wondering if I should buy D4.

I am a huge d2 fan with hundreds of hours laddering doing mf runs and trading to get those juicy rune words, both on the original game and resurrected.

Like many D2/Poe players, I was and still am hugely disappointed by D3. And I really dislike what blizzard has become.

That being said, is Diablo 4 a good game? And more importantly, a good Diablo game?

Well, define a good game? Or maybe even better, define what you actually disliked about D3 and we can tell you if you’ll encounter the same disappointment in D4.

Personally I’m still enjoying the game, just finished the campaign, now doing side-quests on World Tier 3 and did my first Helltide yesterday.

Everything feels a bit darker story wise and personally I like the setting and artistic choices made. But that feeling is not universally shared. Also, limited inventory size, difficulty at some point to find upgrades and leveling that at some point slows down pretty fast could use some tuning. So the game is not perfect and some people are already done with the Eternal Conf… urhm, Grind.

But overall so far I personally find the game to be fun. And the first season will drop in ten days, so expect new content by then.

It’s also probably important to differentiate between early D3 and now D3. End game in D3 was basically pushing as far into Inferno difficulty as you could and meanwhile grinding for better gear - basically what D2 end game is. D3 now is “get to max level as fast as possible and do nothing but bounties and rifts while collecting all-powerful set items that turn you into a god”.
