Like the title say, what can i use to share music/creations in simplicity ?
My needs :
- dont need the remuneration or being paid
- listening on the web browser is an cool feature
- accept audio with no loses
- respect peoples, let us manage the licences
instead of, What do you use to share files ?
Is there something for music, based on activity pub ? It would be great.
I did an account on BandCamp, but just read about the “drama”, F it.
If you own the music copyright, you could self-host it on Funkwhale if you want to go that way. It shouldn’t need a lot of resources too. It’s a federated platform, and relies on ActivityPub.
You want to share it with friends? Good. You want to share it with everyone? Up to you.

Actually just started using this yesterday https://github.com/lrkrol/Noctifer-Music simple PHP setup. Just get a cheap / free shared hosting account, drop the index.php file and the folders in there, drop your music into the folder where index.php is, and you’re all set.

However i would prefer an service instead of self-hosted solution, but i steel keep it just in case :D
If your sharing privately with friends Google drive, Dropbox, wetransfer SoundCloud, YouTube unlisted link.
If you want the world to hear it and you’re not stealing samples or whatever, use Distrokid and it’ll be on Spotify etc. Just DONT pay for any of their extras.
Bandcamp is still fine, don’t worry bout the drama.

I think they’re referring to Epic selling Bandcamp off to SongTradr which also came with a staff cull including a ton of unionised staff.
Most of the people I know Post more than one place. Most often YouTube and SoundCloud.
You can also look into Navidrome
Apps that use the Subsonic API can stream from it.
