    Ian Wright was one of the strikers when I was growing up. I’m not old by any means, but it’s jarring to see those childhood stars and successful players reaching retirement now.

    This clip makes me tear up every time, and shows what a legend the boy is every time I watch it.

    Here’s to another good few years of Ian Wright Wright Wright.

      There’s also an episode of Desert Island Discs where Ian reminisces about the same teacher.

      If you have time to listen to the podcast episode, he goes into detail about what drives him. I would find it hard to understand anyone who doesn’t admire his sense of humanity.
