The title says “The best co-op games” yet has B4B as its cover art.

    Never change, game journalism.

I played the left 4 dead series a lot when I was younger. I haven’t tried back 4 blood. What made the game flop?

It felt more like a fan-made game based on L4D without any understanding of the source material, yet it was made by the original devs.

That being said, L4D2 was an improvement and it was made by Valve. The main issue I had with it is that the special enemies didn’t have any feeling to them, they just came and battle without any atmosphere that say The Witch would bring.

It was made by a very small number of devs who aided the team at Valve who did the real work. Somewhere between 2 and 6 people, and none who did the heavy lifting, direction, production, AI, or mechanics design. Most of the B4B team would have been children when L4D was made…

The animations are jank, no mod support because they thought it will somehow increase map expansions sales. Support for the game ended (which if you do not allow for user submitted content ,is a big problem). The PvP sucks, it’s a survival game mode instead of being the classic vs mode we love from l4d2. That’s just at the top of my head, there was more.

I dont support Pcgamer, so I wont be looking but I’d like to add Vermintide 2 if it’s not on the list.

Terraria is also likewise 10x better with friends.

Vermintide 2 is indeed on the list. Didn’t see Terraria though I could have missed it with the page jumping all around thanks to ads loading in.

I would have to disagree about No Mans Sky. If you’re playing missions with randos on the anomaly, then sure, it works somehow…

But try doing a proper co-op by bringing a new player friend and its awful. You have to go to settings to enable multiplayer, go back to main menu to find your new friend’s instance, and then it will load you in the middle of space where you have to still find your friend who’s definitely panicking in the middle of a toxic rainstorm trying to find his broken ass ship that they need to repair.

And then say you both succeed surviving and finding each other, now you just want to fly together and explore? Well, theres no fleet commands or any way to coordinate your flight. Have fun guessing where to find both of your ships in light speed. And you cant warp to the next system yet bec your friends’ hyperdrive and warp cell is still not acquired.

And lets say you both succeeded to warp to the next system, suddenly you enter the scripted event where you have to save a freighter. Now you should be having a fun time shooting rogue ships together, except you arent seeing the same set of ships and freighters because they are locally generated on your computer. The fun you’ll be having is figuring out that its virtually not the same instance at all, they just look the same.

I love their game, but really they need to fix party play or just get rid of it.
