In short: Neo-Nazis Thomas Sewell and Jacob Hersant have avoided further jail time after they were convicted of a 2021 attack on hikers at a Victorian state park. County Court Judge Kellie Blair wished the pair luck and said she believed the prospects of both men being rehabilitated were good. Sewell and Hersant maintained their innocence after the hearing and made anti-Semitic and homophobic comments to gathered media. What’s next? Hersant must complete 200 hours of community service as part of his sentencing.

Great advertising for the rest of the Nazi boneheads backing Sewell and co that they’ll at worst get off with a rap over the knuckles if they engage in similar behaviour. After all the back patting over banning Nazi symbols they let this pair off the hook. Ripper stuff.

I really hope the local synagogues and mosques up their security.
They shouldn’t have to of course, and it would never be enough because we exist outside of our places of worship, but this shit absolutely will just embolden these nazis, and as you say, their friends, to do worse, and I’ve already seen a comment about them being openly associated with the Christchurch shooter, so it really isn’t a huge leap to guess what they’ll be up to next…
