Grew up in Victoria but now live in NSW. Still trying to work this whole thing out so this is kind of like my test post I guess.

Reddit 48 hour blackout starts on Monday, in protest to the API changes they’ve proposed that will effectively kill off third party apps.
Oh right. Sorry I knew about the blackout but didn’t know when it was and didn’t put it together. And yeah API change is exactly why I’m here.
How do the different servers work if you don’t mind me asking? Like if I go to beehaw.org I don’t think I have to make another account, right? But I can’t figure out how to log in using this one.
You can participate in communities from other instances by clicking “all” in the communities section at the top of the page. If there is a remote community not listed, search for it by its full URL and it should show up after 10 seconds or so.
And no, you don’t need to create accounts on each instance :)
Is there a way to search for communities? I’ve subscribed to a handful just by spotting them on the “all” tab, but how would I find one without navigating through a post?
Perhaps thes functionality is not yet included in Jerboa, which is fair enough too.
Sorry, not so familiar with Jerboa. On the web app you can search aussie.zone for the full URL of the community on the other instance. After 10 seconds or so it should show up on the All tab.
Thanks! I managed to work that out about half an hour ago. Sure enough, you’ve got to go through the browser for now, but these things will only improve with time.
Oh that’s cool, thanks for your help.
What happens to my account if this instance is deleted?
Hmm I’m not entirely sure. I’ve not tested that.
No problem. I’ve tried searching around but haven’t had any luck in finding an answer. Thanks for all your help either way.
