I had to update the pic; forgot the biggest culprit -Microsoft. They got slapped with a fine of $731 million. I try not to think about this company at all but I had to fix it. The meme gods had to be appeased.
Also, I remember that Nextflix only bent the knee by agreeing to 30% of their content being local, but really tempted to add 'em.
Hopefully the Next Flex will be Netflix - for the meme-ability. Elon won’t do it, he would have already done. He is just exercising free speech, nothing more. If he does get in the ring, then I’ll join X 😬 & pay his subscription for a year. 👀

Calling Lemmy a commercial failure shows a massive lack of understanding of even the basics of what Lemmy is.

Lemmy is not a commercial project, you’re thinking about it the wrong way. It’s run for free by volunteers.

Again, you’re still thinking about it the wrong way. This isn’t an organisation, dude. There is no product, there are no workers or employers. It doesn’t live or die. That’s the nature of the fediverse.

Great explanation. On top of that, every open source program that is 10 yrs and older laughs out loud right now. Not everything needs commercial backing. Also, nobody said lemmy isn’t going to get fiancial support at some point.

…lemmy was only ever intended to be a forum. And the CSAM problem is old news that was already fixed with an automatic black box solution.

The fediverse will not die as long as there is even one person willing and capable of running an instance.

                  Begone, Elon.

You won’t be handing over payment details unless X becomes a payment merchant, in which case the regulations to jump through are insane. Otherwise all you’re doing is giving them a token that they can charge for the pre-defined amount you agreed to, once.

He stated from the beginning that his dream is to make X an everything app like Wechat, or paypal for everything - shopping, hail a taxi, etc; I think he realises from his time at Paypal what the regs are; that is the business model he is going for.
2 days ago X announced a new “Not a Bot” annual subscription plan that’ll will cost $1 annually. Trials start in New Zealand & Phillipines. This is going to be Paypal X, the $1 is either a foot in the door or just testing the waters.

            Yeah……?

Like I said, the only way you hand over your actual payment details is if they go through all the regulations to become a payment merchant, at which case there is no risk because everything is properly handled. Until then they use an external payment merchant meaning Twitter never see your actual payment details, so again there’s no risk.

I know you said that but, as I said, I’m not giving Musk anything, unless he gets in the ring with the EU. I’d sooner donate it to Wikipedia than fuel his bonfire of sanity. You can pay him with no risk to yourself; over here in Europe, he is quick becoming the risk many knew he would be - like Murdoch
The funny thing is, he might get more than he bargained for.
The new union boss of IG Metall, where Musk is gallantly fighting unionisation, sent him a warning 2 days into the job saying:
“You need to be careful. The rules of the game are different here.” .
Fighting union pay is a union matter but skirting EU rules on poor health and safety conditions is sure to guarantee him EU fines. Someone needs to SEND HIM LOCATION of where his Gigafactory is.

For all those 'Puns ‘N Poses’ fans; a meme within a meme, about a fight within a fight, against a union within a union.

Yeah, extremist political instances like hexbear and Lemmygrad are killing Lemmy.

I’d be embarrassed to even tell anyone I use it in it’s current state, but I’m still hopeful it can clean up and be good.
