Decisions taken after a video assistant referee review will be communicated over loudspeakers at stadiums and on television - addressing a long-time bugbear of football fans.
Although this is clearly the way forward, I do wonder if there will be an awkward transition period within the A-League if it is introduced before we’ve solved our refereeing problems. The problem with VAR here isn’t just that people at the game’s can’t understand what’s happening - it’s also that VAR just straight up makes mistakes too often. Imagine them actually announcing the flawed logic we’ve seen in some of the recent seasons. I don’t know if that would make things better or worse, but I guess it could be pretty funny in a nihilistic sort of way.
