Really unfortunate that there are people who would protest open source. I need to read some wholesome cat stories or something to restore my faith in humanity.
Its definitely not in any way suspicious that this protest of about 20 people gets PR pieces published about it while protests of thousands often get no mention.
Not like google is scared that open source AI is coming to eat their lunch or anything like that. No this is entirely organic and not at all astroturfed.
Sure. Probably way better to spend your day with something like HAL 9000 than anything that’s at least a bit more transparent and allows for participation.

Not to mention ethics of a multi billion dollar company are probably not the best when they all get to develop things behind closed doors and force their algorithms into our lives.
“Concerned citizens” is the correct term. It’s probably the same people that had been concerned with vaccines…
Tl;dr: I’m happy we had the Age of Enlightenment. They’re not.
Glad they also interviewed a person who seems to know what they’re talking about.
