    They need to stop subsiding everything, any extra money they give us for childcare will go straight into the pockets of those that run the centerers as the increased demand drives up prices. If the government started their own childcare centers that would increase supply at the low end of the market and help set the standard. If people want to pay more for a ‘nicer’ center that’s up to them.

      I would like to see more government owned services too. I’d like to think they are held to much higher accountability than the private sector.

      Game of mates is an interesting read. The idea that government owned =bad is a lie we were sold a long time ago!

    Because there aren’t enough people willing to work in the field with the pitiful pay they get. I want government-run child cares to provide universal child care because I don’t want even more of my taxes going to corporate leeches.

    I think people might have missed that the article talking about extending the subsidy that already exists for below $80k household income to everyone. Financially it’s probably better to do that and then clawing it back through taxes. Props to labour to making that pre july graph much more consistent though.
