Three major Australian, UK and Dutch superannuation and pension funds have each acquired a 33% stake each in Tasmania’s largest private forestry company, Forico.

UniSuper, UK’s Pension Protection Fund and Dutch pension provider APG purchased the plantation from New Forests, who will continue to manage it moving forward.

Approximately 90,000 hectares of the plantation are dedicated to wood fibre production, while the remaining portion is managed for conservation, biodiversity and cultural values.

The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
