Has anyone else noticed that Costco changed the size of the rice bags? They used to be 50lb, but it appears that they’re all 25lb now. Also, the cost per lb seems to have gone up.

We don’t usually buy our rice from Costco, but I can say the price has skyrocketed over the past couple years. We would buy 25lb bags for $16 -$20 dollars on sale and now we’re seeing them for $40+

Take a look at the prices at Costco. $40 for 25lb seems like a rip-off.

We get the jasmine rice there and it’s showing as under $19 for 25lb. Just about 18 mos ago it was something like $23 for 50lb.

The calrose there is pretty good too if you like short grain.

My wife is very particular. We got the Costco Jasmine rice once and she stubbornly refuses to try it again.

I saw something on YouTube today that there may be rice shortages coming. Apparently India is a big producer, and, IIRC, they’re halting exports on everything that isn’t basmati, in an effort to protect their supply availability at home.

Whether Costco’s rice change has any ties to this (directly or indirectly) I do not know.
