Was very happy to see this pop up in the communities tab :) How about something to get us started?

Post a set you’re enjoying at the moment. Were you at the event? How was it?

I love Hugh Jass. They played at the first doof I went too and I loved the silliness. They were the reason I bought a ticket to Art Valley 2023, a festival which turned into one of my favourites ever. My friend needed a tow, and it was during this set that we had finally aquired internet (through a kind souls Starnet modem) and were able to call their parents to organise a rescue on Monday. At ~47min into the set I remember wondering what my friends (rather old) parents would think of the Simpsons samples in the music, ha!

Another fun minimal set from someone I didn’t know prior: https://soundcloud.com/aaronkingmusic95/art-valley-festival-2023-live-set-recording-1

I also really enjoyed this mix by Funcle, who played at the festival but hasn’t posted their set. Possibily my favourite of the three, really fun: https://soundcloud.com/func1e/the-prog-frog

I’d love for a doof community to grow on Lemmy. It actually fits quite well: both are grass-roots communities which are a bit underground and are a bit anti-establishment. The wild west vibes of a doof and the wild west vibes of an early-internet-esqe fourm.

We may even be in the heyday, before an eternal september, where we could have some really great discourse in public. I don’t see many public doof groups, and I imagine it is because a big influx of randoms can dilute the culture and scare off the old guard. Luckily, I’m sure a lot of people seeking out a bush doof /c/ on Lemmy are already familiar.

With that said, I’ll add another set!

I found Kodiak Kid through K+Lab when they did an event together. I really enjoy their vibe-y bass-y sets, like the above. There’s a lot of hip-hop played over doofy beats (see 1:17:20). Not a huge fan of the attenborough start (it might have fit the night it was played) so I normally begin from 3:20.
