Does this apply at all to Lemmy users, or is this just internal?

Honestly I can’t see this as a good thing, voting is generally private so that people can provide an honest answer, the only outcome is to scare people from voting.

The threadiverse keeps associating basic functionality with issues that are inherent to large groups of people.

But then again, we all have anonymous usernames, which can be different over several account… if you care about privacy that much.

I don’t mind if cellar dwellers knows my username or e-mail, I get so much spam either way. Oh, and regarding upvoting/downvoting, it’s only a bad thing if the admins actually would care and then start to sell user information like any other big corporation does.

The UI may even hide them in some implementations or per-posts depending on OP / community choice, but eventually one could always write a tool that can expose that publicly.

    That’s the beauty of federation!
