@asteroidrainfall I inherited a 1940s Silex syphon coffee maker and was making do with the original fabric filter until it just couldn’t hold on anymore (general guidance is to fully replace the filter once per month when used daily). I was able to order three ten-packs of replacement filters from eBay and that’s doing the trick!
I freakin love this coffee maker. It makes the smoothest cups of coffee that I have ever had, hands-down. Completely worth the extra work in my opinion.
That’s super cool. I’ve only ever drank syphon coffee at cafes and loved the taste and texture. Watching it being brewed is also fun.
How much of the texture comes from the brewer vs the filter? I’ve heard that cloth filters do wonders, even for pour overs. The only issue is maintenance.
@asteroidrainfall I spent pretty much all morning binging his videos waiting for my new syphon filters to arrive. His voice is so soothing!
You bought a home syphon filter? What’s that like; seems like it would be difficult to use.
