Who would have though that being told from a young age that you’re sick and disgusting for being attracted to different people than them would lead to mental health issues. Sadly I know people who would see articles such as this to confirm their beliefs, “They do drugs and are depressed because they know what they’re doing is wrong”.

While my country has definitely gone a long way towards being inclusive and accepting theres still a lot of hate behind closed door or in blue collar jobs, mostly from the older generations.

this is a complete suprise I can’t believe that being banned in 70+ countries and being raised and taught that your very existence is against nature would cause mental health problems

Yeah, what gets me is that this is then used as “proof” that there’s something wrong with LGBTQIA+ people.

People who are gay, lesbian or bi (not sure why trans and other groups have been left out?) have to put up with an extra layer of societal bullshit. No kidding!

Also, not like efforts to make the world more accepting to queer people now have the added threat of internet-radicalized maniacs.

Likely because the research this piece is based on just looked at gay, lesbian, and bi folks - lots of research is restricted like this for a whole number of reasons. But yeah, no surprises here!

(Lots of good other research on trans health and wellbeing in particular, too, that shows the same thing)
