The mayor’s office says it would be the first major U.S. city to enact such a plan.

    Gross.

You do know that Whole Foods is owned by Amazon and Walmart is owned by the richest family in the country, right? I think they can handle the minimal competition a city-sponsored grocery store will bring.

Beyond that, no one is looting grocery stores (which Whole Foods and Walmart could also handle). Chicago only allows Walmart Neighborhood Markets within its borders because of how much of a competition killer it is, actually.

As a Chicagoan, you can go fuck yourself. You do not understand this city. I’ve lived in the same neighborhood for 20 years and all of the independent grocery stores dried up by year 3. No big business rushed in to fill the gap. A local chain opened up a few years ago, but they charge twice as much as they do in their other locations because they’re the only grocery store for miles around. I live in one of the safest neighborhoods in the city, by the way.

    We need this. Badly.

A company being rich enough to “handle” theft and looting isn’t a reason for them to just put up with it lol. Sounds like you’re a fan of it.

Harriet Tubman: “There are two things I’ve got a right to, and these are, Death or Liberty – one or the other I mean to have. No one will take me back alive; I shall fight for my liberty, and when the time has come for me to go, the Lord will let them, kill me.”

You: “I mean, I am their property.”

You’re weak, cowardly, and subservient. I’ll bet you’ll die never having had an original thought.

You: rich people can companies should just let us steal from them. They can afford it.

You’re delusional and have probably done a bit of looting yourself.
