Something lemmy users seem unaware of is the fact there are millions of Russians living outside of Russia, and maybe they don’t like being vilified for something a country they don’t live in is doing.
Sorry yeah, this was explained in another post where someone went over some of the terms and imagery used and how they would be considered offensive to Russian people.
I’ll look for that post and update this comment if I find it.
That’s ok, I was being reactionary myself. If it’s literally insulting Russians as a people, that’s totally understandable and shouldn’t even have been added in the first place!

It’s hard to make the distinction when the article is so vague. What was removed? And how did it offend the russian people rather than the war effort?
