Congrats! Tbh, I didn’t believe in the second wave that much because I thought that most of the caring users already switched but turns out that I was wrong and more people are actually joining which is very good. I can’t wait to see for this platform to grow bigger.

The main driving force is the apps moving to lemmy.

Lots of people come over if you post or comment about Sync, Boost, Slide, Infinity, Connect (similar to relay) etc

wefwef.app and Memmy are very similar to Apollo already

Yeah the atrocity that is the Reddit app and their mobile website made me switch but the familiarity of wefwef app to Apollo made it much easier to stay !

Same here, but I’m seeing more and more engagement across the entire platform. It’s really exciting watching things grow and I think as more people learn how to use Lemmy and they find communities they enjoy, we’ll continue to see activity increase

Ditto, but I’ll be happy to be proven wrong, so I am making an effort to unlurk.

Apparently I should never underestimate the power of procrastination.

Had the same thoughts as you. In my mind people who cared about the issue (and not cared for the company’s response) had already taken action. There might be a second small wave now, but we might be looking at a long tail adoption. The important thing is that people find and stumble to content via search engines, and who knows when these engines will be crawling the fediverse…

I tried to come over before but there were obviously challenges. Now this setup is definitely more robust and better prepared for the influx of us refugees!

Yeah, subscribing isn’t intuitive. What I think may be a barrier is that there’s many instances that all connect to each other, but the general population might have problems wrapping their heads around that.

Good to have you. There’s some really good communities here and looks like most of the trolls are isolated to a few instances, or still on Reddit.

    I like space. It’s big.

    I also like pretty pictures.

I don’t have any good sources for cutting edge stuff cause I usually get my space porn from communities like this in the first place (where are y’all getting your images?), but I shared some of the great older content I’m current using for my phone background and for art on my walls. They’re very well known, though, so they’re quite frankly reposts for today’s lucky ten thousand (but I stand by that Exoplanet series being the best thing since sliced bread).

Honestly NASA astronomy photo of the day has hundreds of super high quality images archived so you can see them by date. I’m active on Flickr and astrobin so I see tons of images worthy of sharing on those. Imgur has a million as well.

Don’t feel pressured to post if you don’t want to, but if you come across anything worthy of sharing, it’d be awesome if you did
