Cassidy Hutchinson, a former Trump White House aide, said she had to flee Washington, D.C. for safety after she testified before the Jan. 6 Committee.

“I could not go back to my apartment,” Hutchinson told reporter Tracy Smith in an interview set to air Sunday on “CBS New Sunday Morning.”

Hutchinson, the former assistant to Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, said her safety was threatened. Her legal team recommended she leave town.

“I ended up moving down to Atlanta for several months,” she said.

Hutchinson was the first White House member to testify before the committee. On June 28, 2022, Hutchinson told the committee about what she witnessed in the days following the Capitol insurrection.

The former aide told Smith that she almost “darted” from the holding room before testifying.

“I heard the door click open and I turned around and I looked at my attorney and said ‘I can’t do this.’ And I started to walk and he gently pushed my shoulders. And he said, ‘You can do this.’ And then we walked out,” Hutchinson said in the interview.

Hutchinson said she is still a Republican but will not be supporting former President Trump’s White House bid in the 2024 election.

Hutchinson is releasing a book which details her experience in the White House and leading up to testifying at the committee. Her book accuses former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani of groping her backstage during Trump’s Jan. 6 rally.

Hutchinson’s first TV interview will air on CBS and be available for streaming on Sept. 24. Her book, titled “Enough,” is set to publish on Sept. 26.

I think the funniest things is that she is STILL a loyal Republican. She knows the type of people they are, and she still refuses to leave the party or denounce them.

The vast majority of republican politicians are trump supporters. They have the party. They control it. All the current nominees are aping the trump brand in the hopes that enough clueless idiots will vote for them. The time of McCain and Bush are long gone — these proto-fascists have taken the party and they won’t let go until

    1. They’re destroyed;
    2. They win and seek out an eliminate anyone in power with left-leaning politics.

I just hope the vast majority of us who aren’t a part of the lunatic fringe can hold these psychos off enough for a decade or two until the demographic shifts make it mathematically impossible for them to win anything again.

God I hope so, but things are looking dire. The way I see it, if trump wins in 2024, they’ll do everything in their power to never let the democrats win again. This includes gerrymandering and more illegal things like straight up reducing the Democrats abilities to organize and run for office, reducing them to a pet the Repubs keep around so they can point to it and pretend they still have democracy.

They know that everyone under 30 votes Dem. They know their politics are unpopular. This is an existential threat to them and they know it.

If he wins next year he’s going to wage political war on anyone who hasn’t been and refuses to be loyal to him. The blue states in New England, the Midwest, and the West Coast will be his primary targets. California will both resist and retaliate as will New York and many of their neighbors will likely throw their lot in with them. Who knows what form those attacks and defenses will take, but that sounds a lot like a Civil War to me

Here’s what scares the shit out of me.

If either or both of these old fucks dies before the election, there will be horrific chaos.

Imagine what you could end up with.

Here’s what scares me … what if one of these fuckers dies before the election? Total chaos.

I have a colleague who does epigenetic research. It sounds like these guys will be around for a while, but it’s a bit of a crapshoot at their ages

I mean depends on how you define chaos it’s not completely unpredictable. Especially as we get closer and closer. If either dropped dead tomorrow it might be pretty wild, but if it’s in July? Not so much

If Trump dies there will for sure be a crazy scramble for who gets the mantle, DeSantis’s stock as been waning but he’d for sure attempt to seize the opportunity and put himself in the drivers seat. And I think at this moment he’d probably succeed. But I don’t think he can unite the GOP electorate nationwide, especially when a solid third of them will likely buy into some half assed assassination conspiracy. Which is scary because they will likely get even more violent in response. Additionally I think the right would splitter pretty hard without him to unite all of their most extreme memebers.

If Biden dies would be less off the wall but maybe harder to predict, Kamala would obviously make her case as incumbent and since she’d be running against Trump I don’t think the DNC would want to sew division. Especially if he kicks it after the campaign really ramps up next year. No time to vet a new nomination in the primaries. This is scary, because while I would obviously vote for her against Trump, I am not fond of her being a fucking DA, I’m sure many others do to and she additionally has the disadvantage of how sexist this country is towards women. And while that irritates the piss out of me it’s the reality, and that disadvantage might cost her an electoral victory against Trump.

So you are right that shit would be scary

It’s insane, I can’t believe she is still a Republican. The (literal in many cases) death grip that party has on people.

I don’t know anybody who is that proud of being a Democrat, even the people I know who work in the local party office…

The thing that keeps two parties in power in the US is the first-past-the-post voting system. Get ranked choice or another similar voting method in, and suddenly there is enough room for multiple parties, and legislators have to work together to get things done.

So to me, it’s not a matter of something better showing up; it’s the good that already exists being suppressed by an outdated, exclusionary voting system that never lets anything better rise to the top. Change the voting system, and Congress is no longer a two-sided, razor’s edge, ongoing political hostage situation.

There are some fantastic videos about this subject on YouTube; if anyone’s interested I can post some links.

People have been raised in the two party system to equate right-wing with republican and left wing with democrat.

She may simply mean that she is still right wing, rather than republican, since a bad experience with a political party is unlikely to change your fundamental beliefs on how a country should function.

Just as if a Democrat were to be treated horribly by the Biden administration, they probably wouldn’t all of a sudden be anti-abortion and anti-lgbtq+

Whatever you think of her former employer, this was a White House aide getting credible death threats over testifying to a U.S. congressional committee like she was a Mafia turncoat or something. It’s appalling.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Cassidy Hutchinson, a former Trump White House aide, said she had to flee Washington, D.C. for safety after she testified before the Jan. 6 Committee.

On June 28, 2022, Hutchinson told the committee about what she witnessed in the days following the Capitol insurrection.

“I heard the door click open and I turned around and I looked at my attorney and said ‘I can’t do this.’ And I started to walk and he gently pushed my shoulders.

6 rally.
