'Significant' number of midwives confirmed to have left former Calvary hospital since takeover

There are growing concerns about the midwifery workforce at one of Canberra's two public hospitals, of which the ACT government recently took over management.

Eleven midwives have left the hospital since the ACT government acquired it, and 10 of the 11 took redundancies.

Canberra Liberals health spokeswoman Leanne Castley says the departures will have a “massive impact”.

The Senate has voted against a bill that would have forced the ACT government to hold an inquiry into its hospital takeover.
