    Plum and Tea

    • Brush: Zenith 506U N (50/50 horse mane/tail)
    • Razor: Böker Abalone
    • Lather: Ariana & Evans – Asian Plum
    • Post Shave: Barrister and Mann – Cheshire
    • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Black Watch

This soap did not burn me despite the intense scent, phew. I enjoyed the scent of Asian Plum, but the real discovery for me was how much I like combining Cheshire and Black Watch.

Great shave with a great base, a great brush, and a great razor. Great, great, great.

    2023.09.13 SOTD:

    • Prep: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser

    • Brush: AKA Brushworks Amethyst Watchman with 26mm AP Shave Co G5C

    • Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable

    • Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium Extra Stainless (3)

    • Lather: Elysian Pineapple Ambrosia with Permafrost

    • Post Shave: Alum, Stirling Mentholated Unscented Witch Hazel and Aloe, Seaforth! Sea Ice Lime Aftershave Splash, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry

Very nice shave again today. These Wizamet blades are really impressing me. Definitely going to pick some up in bulk. 3 pass shave with some very slight cleanup, no irritation, and smooth.

Really enjoying Pineapple Ambrosia as well. I’m going to have to try more of Elysian’s soaps. This was the first time using permafrost on a soap. Did 2 pumps, and everything was nice and chilly. I think one would be enough for one shave, but it was still nice. Close to Glacial level from Stirling. Would definitely recommend.

Taking a short break from the Personna 74 which has 38 uses just to make sure I’m not missing anything. The WSP “Rustic” soap base is pretty much garbage, but Black Amber Vanille smells really great. GLS compliments it really well.

The verdict is I’m not missing anything! Granted, Personna Lab Blue have a sweet spot for me after shave 3 or 4, but I just wanted to compare the 38-use blade to something I’m familiar with. The P74 is still close and comfortable, and the overall feel is similar enough to the new blade.

    • Lather: Saponificio Varesino - 70th Anniversary - Soap (48)

    • Post Shave: Saponificio Varesino - 70th Anniversary - Aftershave

3 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

A new edge again for this Straightember. This time it is a Black Arkansas finish after a synthetic stone refresh. I pushed the edge by using a drop of soap solution with water on the Black Ark. I used my hone-a-little, test-a-little method to go as far as I could for sharpness. Tests for the finished edge showed it to be ultra-sharp which is amazing when you consider the reputation stainless has for those huge chromium carbides ;-). My shave result is ultra-close. Too close, really, for a daily shaver. I’m okay with an edge this sharp, but I don’t need it to be. After the shave I did 30 laps on flax linen and 60 laps on leather. I’ll see how things feel tomorrow.

  • September 13, 2023: Equine Greatest Hits Straightember

It was late, and I tried to get it over quickly - so Haslinger it was. I should maybe reinstate my after 22:00, no straight rule: I am less concentrated, and my coordination perceptibly declines. I got a slight cut, not deep, but still a good bleeding.

    Have a good night!

    Sep 13, 2023 - Sample September: Lycanthropy

    • Prep: Klar - Activated Charcoal - Face Soap
    • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts/Declaration Grooming Purple Hybrid 28mm B7 Knot
    • Razor: Wolfman Razors WR4 (Aluminum)
    • Blade: Feather Artist Club Professional [3]
    • Lather: Southern Witchcrafts - Lycanthropy - Soap (Vegan)
    • Post Shave: Southern Witchcrafts - Lycanthropy - Aftershave (Alcohol Free)
    • Fragrance: Chatillon Lux - Confluence - Eau de Toilette

An excellent #witchcraftswednesday shave. Finally killed the Lycanthropy sample today. This is one that I really didn’t like early on, but now it’s one of my favorites. It’s also kinda crazy how close the WR4 shaves.

    Rating: 4.5/5
