Has anyone noticed more of the darker bin chickens getting around since it’s gotten colder? Straw-necked Ibis I believe. I saw one months ago and now they seem to be integrated with the stock standard bin chickens most places I go.

There are plenty of physical and behavioural differences but some of their preferred habitats overlap. When you say ‘integrated’, that doesn’t mean they’re interbreeding. Just hanging out in the same areas, chasing different food.

This site says the straw-necked ibis is “Highly nomadic, moving in search of suitable habitat.”

Oh yeah I didn’t mean they were interbreeding, just hanging out together. Thanks for the info. I only really started paying decent attention to birds last year when I was trying to figure out which ones wanted me dead in the spring.
