Obviously spoilers ahead

What was everyone’s thoughts on this week’s episode. For me it was the best one yet and has me hooked now. Very much looking forward to the rest.

Only 4 more episodes to go!

Until this episode I thought the show was ok. I’m definitely more interested now. The lightsaber action was some of the best in live action Star Wars. I’m optimistic we will get some nice space combat too. Baylan is an interesting antagonist as well.

I think my enjoyment of the show will ultimately hinge on how well they adapt Thrawn and other elements from Zahn’s trilogy of novels. The show isn’t hitting Andor levels of quality for me yet but has touched Mandalorian levels.

I have this feeling like we’ll get just a hint of Thrawn by the end, and that’ll set up for whatever is the next show and then whatever will be in the movies later on. I can totally see Ahsoka teaming up with Mando and Co to fight Thrawn in a movie.

Thrawn is 100% being setup as the “Thanos” of this universe. Mando S4 will almost certainly cross over with what we see at the end of Ashoka.

I’m guessing we don’t see Thrawn or Ezra until the end of the last episode to get people to watch S2 later on.

That’s been my guess with Ezra and Thrawn, too.

Ahsoka has to deal with Shin, Sabine, Baylon, and the witch in the next four episodes. That’s a lot. And she has the next episode to figure out how to even follow them.

And Chopper hasn’t even murdered anyone in cold blood.

          There’s a lot to do!

Chopper definitely needs to commit some war crimes. So far he’s been really tame (with limited screen time)

There’s still a lot to cover, and I honestly think that’s the worst part of the 8 episode season that Disney has pushed. They’re too short to really show an extended narrative. You have time for 1 story, and anything aside from that feels like it’s wasting time.

I wouldn’t mind that premise. It would be great if the Thrawn trilogy could be adapted in some way to feature films or a multi-season show. I’d take some more Jedi master Luke scenes as well.

If they do that they need to bite the bullet and recast Luke. We all love Mark, but the CGI face swapping tech is just not there yet, and arguably shouldnt be used anyway.

Go watch TPM again and tell me this is some of the best fight choreography in the history of the franchise. Better than the OT maybe.

‘Better’ will always be subjective. What I meant to refer to is clearly the amount of thought that went into both the forms and how they were presented and shot. In terms of speed, choreography and athleticism, yes TPM takes the cake.

Choreography for the PT was better, but the overall duels are better here. There’s more than just pure athleticism to be interested in, and that’s why I feel they’re overall better.

The way they face off, trading strikes feels very much like a traditional sword fight. The forms are very clear and the style of the individual shows through. Ashoka with the single lightsaber in this episode was a stand out for me.

The contrast between the master/apprentice is also very interesting to watch. The way Sabine fights the Dark Apprentice (forgetting her name) is more unrefined, while Ashoka fighting the other 2 is a much calmer, methodical fighting style, showing maturity.

PT had the athleticism AND the character work. It’s better than the OT but still feels like a regression to me.

Imo the character work really wasn’t great in the PT. The acting was terrible and the fighting was simply just as fast as they could be. There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just that it gets boring. It was impressive to watch, but it had less of a samurai vibe

World between worlds appearance was unexpected, looks amazing in live action. I wonder how she got there since Ezra had to open a gateway via that temple right?

Waiting another week for the anakin/ahsoka conversation is gonna be hard lol what a cliffhanger

It was awesome watching Ghost and the X wings jump. Major nerd-on.

I wasn’t sold on them getting messed up by the jump of the giant hyper drive ring, there’d be nothing to cause the ripple/shock wave being in a vacuum.

However, any space nerds or physicists out there want to explain I’m all eyes.

Ripples in space time as they made the jump to …you know what, {waves hand} it makes perfect sense. Don’t ask questions.

(But really, I’m glad I’m not the only one to feel out, lol. The only thing that could have made it better? Sanibe’s tie showing up. The, one with the , uh, not-regulation paint)

The Star Wars galaxy isn’t a vacuum because sound travels through it in space battles, so shockwave stuff would affect ships with this jump!

Current actual scientific thinking as I understand it is that light speed travel is theoretically possible with a large enough source of power. Space would be warped in a bubble surrounding the ship in such a scenario.

In Star Wars, they’re traveling through “hyperspace” and moving at light speed (or faster). I can accept that space would be disturbed or some energy waves of high power would be left in the wake of such a large ship.

I knew we’d get the World Between Worlds eventually, but I didn’t expect us to be on the outside. When Ahsoka fell off the cliff I was trying to figure out how she might be saved. Hanging on the edge of the cliff? Secret Huyang mission? Secret Hera mission? As the episode went on I was running out of ideas and then “whoa”. The reveal.

World Between Worlds is going to be so interesting now that it’s in live action. It’s a HUGE change to the Star Wars universe and I really hope they can pull off an amazing story with it.

Ezra pulled Ahsoka out from Malachor even though she didn’t open the portal.

Part of me is thinking Anakin pulled Ahsoka out of the portal in the same way.

I originally thought maybe this happens at some point around Episode 3, and Anakin somehow found his way into the World Between Worlds like Ezra did. But then I noticed Anakin has the wrong saber for it to be during Episode 3 (it looks like he has Vader’s saber).

So now I’m thinking Force Ghost or this all just being a vision like the cave on Dagobah.

It might be, or kind of Jedi purgatory or maybe like the duat from Egyptian mythology before becoming a force spirit.

Yeah, i think I know what you mean, but Anakin is already a force ghost by then because we see him at the end of ROTJ, so he shouldn’t be in purgatory.

I think the force is so strong there that the ghosts can choose to appear fully formed.

I reckon the force ghosts use it to appear where and when they’re needed.

This show has gone from D territory to C+ B- with this episode for me. It’s getting there but they’ve done a really bad job setting up the Ahsoka Sabine dynamic that is supposed to be at the center of the show, the fight choreography has been lackluster and I don’t really feel the stakes here. I watched all of Clone Wars and have been a longtime Rebels fan so I should be the target audience for this but I haven’t really been feeling it. Now, most Filoni shows have starred off wobbly and improved over time, the problem is this show only gets eight episodes to do it. Still, it’s gotten better and I hope that trend continues and we get a strong second half of the season.

Yeah, I’m not a fan. I loved her in Rebels, but I can’t figure out why she even wants to be a Jedi? She’s a pretty awesome Mandalorian; just get more guns. Stop torturing yourself trying to sprout magical powers you don’t need.

Then she threatened to shoot the map…while it was in her hand?! And then just gave it to the bad guys? Wtf???

Also the short hair does not suit her. :/

It’s not that unusual for humans to get stuck in a stage of development if something traumatic happens to them during that time.

They’ve almost outright stated that Sabine was traumatized by Ezra’s sacrifice at the end of Rebels. She has also lost all of her family at this point.
