My local member, Elizabeth Watson-Brown, asks the Minister for Communications Michelle Rowland whether Labor will—given they have refused to ban gambling advertising outright—would consider banning online gambling advertising aimed at children and advertising during sport that families watch.

Rowland refuses to answer the question. She instead takes up the same tired bullshit argument that the LNP has used in the past. Equating taking donations from professional gambler Duncan Turpie.

To quote a pair of very old Reddit comments:

That’s kind of like saying “Party against domestic violence accepts donations from professional boxer.” Slapping the pokies is very different to professional poker. Just ask any of our gaming lobby groups.

Hell, it could even be “professional boxer supports increased regulations so unskilled armatures don’t ruin their lives”.

There was an amendment to a healthcare bill moved by the Member for Brisbane calling on the Government to provide dental in Medicare. It was voted down by Labor, the LNP, the Centre Alliance, and independent MP for Wentworth Ms Spencer. The Greens and independent MPs for Curtin, Goldstein, Indi, Kooyong, and Denison, Ms Chaney, Ms Daniel, Dr Haines, Dr M Ryan, and Mr Wilkie voted in favour.
