Downtown rich people are the only ones who can afford to give up their car. And they really don’t, they just pretend to. They still use delivery services for everything (a car) and rent cars every weekend for outings, take Uber everywhere, and borrow cars all the time. The “we ride bikes and hate cars!” Thing is just for appearances.
I have one thing to say to this
Bicycle
bus lane
merrily zoom past the cars while leaning back and listening to hobbit music
Let me just hop on my bike and drive 50km to work every morning and then back after 8 hours of work.
Dense mf.
Densify your cities.
You live 50 km from your work? Shit and I thought I had a long commute at 24 km. And yes I bike that.
I E-Bike to the trolley, and commute about 25 miles each way, using the E-bike to get me the first and last mile. This is in the US.
The standard answer that doesn’t apply to most people. Let me just grab my bicycle, throw my kids on my back and I’ll be at work in 4 hours
Big cities suck for this reason. I throw my kid in the bike trailer and daycare drop off plus getting to work is 30 minutes.
But Weird Al never came to my small city on his tours, so not everything about small cities are great.
