Israeli cabinet approves Gaza ceasefire deal

The Israeli government has ratified the Gaza ceasefire and hostage return deal after a cabinet meeting that lasted more than six hours, according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office.

The green light means a six-week ceasefire between Israel and Hamas can begin on Sunday, with the gradual release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails to begin soon after.
