Livelsberger left behind two messages that were critical of Democrats and American culture. Little else has been confirmed about the decorated war veteran.
This guy was having serious problems. I have no doubt he said and believed horrid things. The problem though is these guys, (special operations) have been at war for their entire career. They took a “letter of intent” enlistment in 2003, trained for 2 years, and have been deploying for 19 years since then without mental healthcare because that can get them pulled from their job or even the military entirely. And what we’ve been discovering recently about special operations, indirect fire, and anyone who is regularly in close contact with smaller explosions is downright scary. It acts just like CTE in football players.
The periods of time may change but this is the core problem. These guys can literally experience an alternate reality while knowing something is wrong the entire time. This isn’t just a lonely guy who was heavily propagandized, it’s a systemic problem. And while most of these guys are dealing with it in the best way possible, we’re going to see more of this if we don’t step up military and veteran mental healthcare.
