How to scale a militia (fast)

Concerns have also been raised around the competence of these fighters to hold such senior ranks, as none of them are graduates of recognised state-run institutions. Instead, they gained experience on the battlefield with various factions, where established rules and procedures adhered to by professional armies were never applied.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but they kinda won against said graduates?

My interpretation was that some military careerists who joined the opposition but didn’t really lift a finger to fight Assad are disappointed they’re not being promoted to positions they think they’re entitled to over civilians and soldiers who actually fought against Assad for a decade or more.

This seems like high-level whining; the current administration has been so pragmatic about so many things (heck, the whole conquest was an exercise of the power of compromise) that they will likely find employment, at least mid-term.
