Summary

A new WalletHub poll reveals that 74% of Americans believe Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs will worsen inflation, which remains a major concern for most households.

Trump’s plan includes significant tariffs—up to 60% on Chinese goods and 20% on other imports—to protect American jobs and address issues like fentanyl production and border security.

Experts warn these tariffs could increase consumer prices, with middle-income families potentially losing $2,500 annually.

Analysts caution Trump’s plans may face political hurdles in Congress despite his economic-focused campaign promises.

Are we going to pretend he gives a shit? He doesn’t. He got what he wanted, and he can’t be elected again (barring him fucking our systems so severely that he manages to force a third term on us). He’s going to wreck the justice system to avoid any consequences for his actions after his term, and he could very well kick the bucket while he’s in office anyway (dude’s got KFC gravy for blood).

He doesn’t care. He no longer has to. He can play his country-destroying games with impunity. He has no reason to give a single fuck what the American people want.

Oh it’s deeper than that, it’s money coming out of our pockets slipping through a third party and going back into the government offers. It’s an extra tax on goods by proxy. He then has a fresh revenue stream without any earmarks on it.

156,302,318 voters voted out of 244,666,890 eligible. 77,266,856 people voted for tRump. That’s 167,400,034 eligible voters who did not vote for tRump. So yeah…that tracks.

Non-voters don’t matter as far as the political system we’re discussing is concerned so why do we spend so much time talking about them? How many of them there are and the reasons they don’t vote are both entirely irrelevant.

I don’t think he cares as much about the tariffs, but I am quite sure tariffs on Mexico and Canada were Elonia’s idea

I mean he enacted tarrifs on Canada and Mexico in his first term so it’s not like it’s not something he’s been thinking about.

Get out and vote! Just this time. You won’t have to do it anymore! Four more years, you know what? It’ll be fixed, it’ll be fine, you won’t have to vote anymore.” - Donald Trump, July 26th 2024

He meant it when he said that. He doesn’t give a single shit what polling says about his plans. Americans already gave him what he wanted and thus no longer serve a purpose to him. He’s going to get his tariffs no matter how much it fucks over the useful idiots that voted for this fascist dictatorship and there’s nothing you can do about it. Because that’s just what happens in a fascist dictatorship, so you’re going to have to start getting used to it.

I believe he will aggravate people enough to riot, declare martial law, stay in power indefinitely a la some of these other clowns running some of these other countries into the ground.

Can’t wait for worker shortages to cause supply line issues. I really hope the US feels this one.

So ashamed to be an American right now, but yet I might not be one starting January. So eh.

    Eat dicks fuckers.

He’ll probably only care when he actually crashes the economy and everyone turns on him. It’s only a matter of time. I give it 1.5 years from Inauguration Day.

Let him do this tariff thing. Maybe people will finally learn how “good” he and his party is with money when the US economy is completely ruined.

Yep. Fuck everyone that bothered to vote against the fascists. Fuck everyone in a blue spot in red states that voted against the other idiots around them.

Or - maybe we realize that people should actually bother to vote even if they have to vote for a candidate that doesn’t align 100% with their values.

Even if Harris won, that wouldn’t have changed anything materially with the country. There’s a deep rot in the country, and it’s just getting worse regardless of who’s winning elections.

If Trump lost in 2016 abortion would still be legal and pregnant women wouldn’t be dying of sepsis.

          You are demonstrably wrong.

This is not true. I don’t understand why you’re even saying this obvious both-sides propaganda after the election. Harris would not have tanked the economy like Trump’s about to. Biden recovered the damage trump did in his first term and it’s reasonable to think Harris would have continued that trend.

I agree. Let’s just hit the giant reset button, it won’t be fun, in fact it’ll be quite the opposite, but our current trajectory is no good and unsustainable anyway.

At this point anyone still writing articles with the unstated premise that Americans are paying enough attention and in possession of enough information to have their voting choices influenced by actual policy proposals and their real-world effects should be stuffed into sacks and hit with sticks.
