“By not building this bridge, we can invest more in critical projects in the future, like better roads and better transport to keep Brisbane moving."
Better roads? What does ‘better transport’ even mean? I would have thought having a walkable or active transport direct link would be far ‘better’.
Hopefully it means finally doing the North Brisbane Bikeway, delivering the Lambert and Sylvan Rd bikeways, keeping their long-disregarded promise to continue the CityLink Cycleway through to the Valley, etc.
I’m sceptical, though. We might get a couple of decent bike projects, but they’ll be ones we were always going to get regardless.
It doesn’t come as a surprise, but it certainly is disappointing. Yet again the LNP reneges on a clear strong election promise.
5 green bridges is now 3.
Aw man wtf walking from UQ to west end would have been awesome. Pubs there would have probably liked the extra foot traffic too.
Yeah. I was really looking forward to the improved CBD connection that would let you avoid either Highgate Hill or the climb up past Toowong, too.
@Zagorath the NIMBY residents of Boundary St will be pleased.
As will the NIMBYs of Guyatt Park.
