When voters are asked whether they are more inclined to support a candidate who backs transgender rights or one who opposes them, voters overwhelmingly choose the candidate in favor of transgender rights, by a margin of 21 points. This trend holds true among Independents, with a 19-point preference. Even 22% of Republicans indicate they are more likely to support a candidate who favors trans rights—a significantly higher percentage than the share of Democrats who would back a candidate opposing them.
Furthermore, voters showed frustration with the wave of anti-trans advertisements. When asked if they thought political attack ads against the transgender community have gotten mean spirited and out of hand, far more voters agree than disagree (+28 points). This finding holds true for independents (+23 points) as well, with even 31% of Republicans finding that there were too many political attack ads.
I’m not American, but I was watching a sports stream yesterday and it was a US based stream. There was a pro-Trump political ad that was going on about “transgender surgeries for illegal aliens” and all sorts of unhinged shit. Then it said something along the lines of “Kamala is for they/them, President Trump is for you”. Just some serious racist & transphobic nonsense.
I wasn’t aware that such vitriolic ads were so common on mainstream US TV. It’s fucking grotesque. Regulators would never allow that sort of stuff where I live, and rightfully so.
another ad that ends with this that runs relentlessly in my state (the joys of purple states), is about how under Kamala as DA, trans inmates were given trans healthcare.
All the ads are so vile, and its all hate against various minorities.
Edit: Side thought since i never post, companies who choose to take their hate money and run their propaganda should be held accountable for stochastic terrorism, but of course so should public figures.
Stirring up hate and getting people hate crimed and shit, there should be heavy penalties.
Yes, transphobic ads are being blasted in a lot of places in the U.S. right now, and it seems to be upsetting some people. Despite most people not being motivated by transphobia, I think the Republican party has correctly identified that transphobia in the context of sports is a wedge issue that will stir up dissent between centrist Dems and progressives.
