google didn’t come up with passkeys. It’s an idea that originated from the FIDO Alliance (of which google is A MEMBER).

I doubt they saw your idea, and anyway if they didn’t copy no one would support it.

Apple introduced iCloud Keychain / Passkey early 2021 at WWDC21. At the time Apple was working with FIDO Alliance to make Passkeys an official thing.

That’s cool. Microsoft added in biometrics though right? Biometrics in general seem like a terrible security risk in any setting. Your idea makes sense to me.
