Why? Because apparently they need some more incentive to keep units occupied. Also, even though a property might be vacant, there’s still imputed rental income there. Its owner is just receiving it in the form of enjoying the unit for himself instead of receiving an actual rent check from a tenant. That imputed rent ought to be taxed like any other income.

      Fwiw I’m “capable” of having an empty property if I want, but I’m happy having my tenants in my other house :). Love the attempted low, but a giant swing and a miss.

      No one is defending landlords leaving houses empty rather than renting them out because that’s not what’s being discussed. We’re talking about commercial buildings that likely aren’t even legally zoned for residential purposes. No one is defending landlords in any way, simply pointing out the absurdity of your idea.

      I’m accusing you of being angry and emotional because you clearly are. You’re name calling and ranting about things no one said.
