No, it would have just the cat into a tether ball. Besides it was probably a stray just chilling out doing his thing as stray animals do. Can’t blame a stray cat or dog for the actions of shitty people.
That’s some real victim blaming bullshit right there. Are you gonna say next that sluts shouldn’t be showing off their ankles if they don’t want to get raped?
Torturing wild animals is cool and good, aktuly. Its weird that anyone would think otherwise. If the bobcat didn’t want me to cage it, pour gasoline over it, and set it on fire while I laughed at its animal screams, maybe it should have been licensed and penned in on someone’s private property.
I sincerely hope you go out and try to leash community cats.
There are many feral cats who live in almost all our communities that don’t have a home. They don’t have people who care enough to house or feed them, not to mention leashing them when outside. They aren’t disposable.
Animal abuse deserves punishment. Hard stop. I don’t know what kind of point you are fumbling for here, but I have a hard time seeing its relevance.
‘community cats’ wouldn’t exist if people actually cared for them in the first place and didn’t let them roam free. I bet you’d be vocal about ‘community dogs’ roaming free to do what they want. Cuteness should’t get a pass
You’re preaching to the choir, friend. I work in animal welfare, and TNR and fostering feral kittens are my favorite ways to volunteer. I put my money and time where my mouth is.
Sure. It’s a blanket statement I use anytime I see/hear a cat outside u leashed regardless of the circumstances. It’s overall good logic to have to keep the cats, and wildlife save. If this was a dog, no one would have an issue to me saying leash your dog. Cats should be no different.
The same goes for dogs, though. I don’t think you meant ill, but I think you maybe missed the overarching theme that this was likely a lost or wild cat. People would still find your original comment offensive, whether it was a cat or a dog, and suggesting that keeping animals on leashes ignores all-too-common cases of loss or abandonment (which I’m sure you’d agree is an ongoing problem).
Just lovely people all around.
If the cat was leashed, this horrid incident most likely would have never occurred…just sayin.

Not at all, but ok…think what you want while you’re with your leashed cats.
It could have been a stray and it would still be fucked up. Fuck off
It’s mely standard comment for ALL cats loose outside. So no, and you.

Now you’re being unrealistic.

Keep in mind the context of the post.
Are you aware that house cats sometimes escape or get lost? Or that some are born feral?
I don’t know the details of this particular animal’s origins, but it’s kind of ignorant to think that a leash was even a likely possibility.

If it was a wild animal would it be okay? They aren’t going to be leashed, so I fail to see how that changes empathy.
Wild cats aren’t a thing in…Texas until humans started neglecting them by allowing them to be unleashed.
I said wild animal, not cat. Missed the point. Where do you draw the line at animal abuse being okay?
How do you know you’re on the wrong side of an issue? When you’re literally excusing animal abuse.
Not once did I excuse it but ok…assume what you want when you leash your cat
“Wouldn’t have happened if” is literally victim-blaming.
you are a stupid dumb fuck for saying that 😁
Sounds good. Don’t bother me in any way what anyone says.
Fuck outta here. Just sayin
No thanks.
