I actually had this symptom too, and I was like, “that’s weird”. Then I noticed it’s the memes comm on lemmy.ml, which I blocked with great prejudice the first day of federation, so I’m like “I wonder if that has anything to do with it”. And yup! That’s the answer! If you unblock the memes comm, suddenly you can see the whole of comment threads. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is also the “solution” to replies not showing up in your inbox. (I put “solution” in quotes because unblocking the memes comm seems like a terrible plan and not at all worth it just to argue with some libs)
