I’d probably never go back to wow…it died for me when they pushed lfg and lfr. The chat system was a key component and they killed it, this also murdering the community aspect of the game.
To add further insult, when they started making characters feel bland…I like feeling very unique with my toons but they somehow all melded into the same 3 things…do damage, take damage or deal the damage. Classes were rendered useless I found.
do damage, take damage or deal the damage
You’re right that the holy trinity is kinda stale, but I’ve yet to see a better way to do it. Also, even tho it’s stale, I don’t mind it.
Kinda weird to have an opinion on the current state of a game that died for you 13 years ago lol
Shadowlands sucked ass but Dragonflight was great. They actually listened to feedback and introduced countless QoL changes that have been requested for awhile (cross-faction/server guilds, shared reputation and campaign progress, etc). All classes feel unique and the changes they just made to the skill tree are interesting, it’s not just different-colored spells anymore.
FWIW my entire WoW game time was a year of Classic (first time ever playing), 1 month of TBC Classic, 1 month of bfa, 2 months of SL, 4 months of DF, and about 2 weeks of TWW.
Not really. I want to play again, wow is still interesting to me BUT a key component(s) died and will never return. I’m still fascinated by the world

Nah, I get it. There are some games I want to play because I want that feeling, but I know I can’t. Every game experience is a product of you, that time/context, and the game itself. When all 3 of those align, it’s PERFECT, and I crave that. For me, WoW hit that in 1 raid where all my friends played and the game was a good state.
