Updates in code base, interface, mobile development, plus improvements to the look and feel on Linux. Pretty cool to see!

    Nice and all, but

    • the sidebar is still just a permanent placeholder to create tabs, this makes no sense. It needs to replace tabs entirely or I need to hide it as it is useless
    • the filter function still doesnt allow nested filters (like “IF the message is older than x days AND contains y OR z THEN”)
    • Thunderbird conversations and DKIM Verifier got ported luckily, but these should simply be integrated.
    • same with small ones like “filter button”, filters are unreasonably hard to get
    • the global search opens tabs and the UI is horrible. It should stay in the same window, or it is useless for me. I use the inferior filter search, which works but pinning the filterbar wastes space

    Though…

I really like Thunderbird and also K-9 mail (even though FairEMail is a beast regarding features) and can use it without big issues every day.

It’s going to sound trivial, but I just don’t like the icons in FairEmail. I was a little worried when Thunderbird took over k9, but they have done a good job with NOT going fast or breaking things.

Thunderbird team seems to have a vision of what an email client can be, but also great respect for how important email is to people.

Fair-Email gives me anxiety. Literally the only app where I needed to change like 10 settings because the defaults felt wrong, and there are too many!

The interface is too small too, barely clickable.

K9-Mail to this day doesnt display notifications for me, which is really bad. Even with manual periodic check enabled.

And there are a ton of more features in Fairemail that are super cool.
