I have Mark Read on Scroll and Hide read posts button enabled in settings. I’ve used the PWA and iOS app. Read posts still appear in my feed after hiding. Sometimes I have to click hide twice or the top posts are already read. Eventually after scrolling for some time, read posts either take over the feed (including posts hid that session) or appear interspersed with other posts.
My question is: is hiding not persistent? Is there another way to reduce the number of repeat/read posts in my feed?
My fix was unchecking the “show read posts” settings on my Instance website
I don’t see how to do that via the Voyager app.
You can’t, you have to go to your instance website (e.g. Lemmy.ca, then profile settings)
That’s definitely not intended. Has it started happening recently?
That doesn’t happen to everyone?
Oh wait… I think I understand. Basically, the hide read posts hides any read posts that are currently in your feed. (It needs the post IDs to do this.) So if you scroll and receive additional posts that haven’t been hidden but are marked read, you have to tap the button again.
Then why do hidden posts reappear?
And this has been happening since pre-1.0
I’m pretty sure I’ve finished lemmy and it’s my second time through 😉
This is when it happens (scrolling and receiving additional posts). I’m with OP though, I thought it was a bug. It could be that the read posts were in my all feed and I’ve jumped to home and the read posts are unhidden or something. I should pay more attention hehe.
I was of the impression that the Hide was not being applied on some post loads.
