Check out [email protected]. The admin of lemmit.online has set up a bot that fetches reddit posts via RSS, making it much easier to make the switch and of course not getting any ads.

You can make requests for subs to fetch at [email protected].

In the end we’re just using lemmy and lemmit’s bot as a simple RSS reader, so nothing illegal or even remotely unethical happening here.

Personally it’s just because I reeeeeeeally don’t want to use Reddit’s mobile app, and I still would like to see notifications for content that isn’t usually conducive to open discussion, like r/gamedeals for example.

On another note, how do I subscribe to any of these from kbin? I tried !(subredditname)@lemmit.online but it doesn’t seem to recognize the address when I search for it :(

I see you’re on kbin as well. For lemmy communities that nobody has joined yet, you would typically search for them on kbin by typing in @{community}@{lemmy instance} in the regular search bar and the community would be one of the results. However, for some reason it doesn’t seem to work with lemmit. It just returns a blank search result which is unusual because if search did not find anything, it the content would just say “Empty.” I wonder what’s going on.
