Thomas Moore was the Lord High Chancellor to Henry VIII. Charles Fourier was the equivalent of a millionaire at age 9. Marx was a lawyer. Engels was the son of a wealthy mill owners. William Morris was the son of what today we’d call a Wall Street fatcat. Kropotkin’s family owned serfs.
Nearly everyone involved in suffrage movements started wealthy and observed the treatment of the poor and was moved to do something about it.
