I just watched the video, and wow was it dumb. The song sucked too.
Wasn’t this the same Jezebel that said we needed to welcome pedos with open arms?
Googled it and closest I got was a 10 year old article about a pedophile and his treatment. Got a source?
Doesn’t sound like I need one. You look like you found it.
Didn’t read the whole thing but it sounded like the dude never acted on their instincts? So it’s just you bitching that someone admitted to their mental health struggles?
More that Jezabel was trying to normalize it.
We should normalize pedophiles seeking and receiving help before they cause actual harm to children.
I don’t get the point of any of this. Someone has a problem with there being competition with sex choices or something? Is it supposed to be wrong that some girls are dressing up and looking nice while others don’t wanna do that?
There’s a problem with saying “I’m subverting the male gaze” while playing into stereotypes
The male gaze?
Yeah, that’s kinda the main point of the article?
Which is?
The male gaze is the idea that we judge things from the perspective of a (heterosexual) man. In particular, it often refers to what society considers to be beautiful. Society often equates being sexually attractive with beauty, and often values people who are considered beautiful more highly.
The article is critizing the video for claiming to subvert this trope in the second half, while still placing emphasis on Katy Perry’s sexual attractiveness.
Oh wow lol! Sounds like ugly people whining about how unfair life is for them before seeking out sex themselves anyhow and passing that course down to their kids. Literally every mobile living thing on the planet is evaluating you for your potential as food or a fuck. This includes your dog and every bug outside. It’s a force of nature that cannot be stopped, least of all by a song. Find a way to compensate or get over it. Beauty matters. Beauty is 95% indicators of health which generally means you’re more valuable.
Don’t even bother trying to come at me trying to conflate value with ethical values. You think people are owed sex for existing? I do plenty of good business and get along perfectly well with ugly people. There’s exactly 2 pretty girls in the whole building and neither one is getting extra money for it. How often do you think men feel bad about not being so pretty? You think we do business like that? This isn’t a male problem. Women ought to catch up with judging men for their beauty to fix the male gene pool instead of valuing money more highly.
Wow.
That was a lot of words just to say “I’m repugnant.”
This was great, thanks for posting it =]
