Oddly the op doesnt mention anything about Russia or China but the comments do.

Also the contents of the link to “General trolling” are fucking hilarious. Those poor Canadian feelings :(((((

I kind of agree with our admins that we should have not been using PPB in other instances, but its funny that they mentioned it TWICE.

I had a good landlord (in an apartment, because apparently that makes a difference) who was on top of his shit, got maintenance done in a timely manner, kept the place looking good, accepted checks for the rent, bare minimum stuff. He sold the place to this slimy piece of shit who immediately started renovations on any unit that became vacant because of rent increases. He had the fucking nerve to complain about my dog barking when construction crews were doing demolition and sawing tiles and shit right across the complex from my unit. That’s when I said fuck renting and bought a house.

He was not a good landlord. He was maybe an otherwise cool guy and might have been doing his genuine best to fulfill his obligations (unlike most landlords) but he was still taking money from you for the use of your home. It’s unjustifiable parasitism from the outset

This is admittedly pedantry, but I’m going to make the minor objection that, as an apartment-dweller, I don’t think that an apartment is personal property. It is by it’s nature an article of collective property, with specific rights of personal use attached to it. Basically like a common field.

This isn’t an arguement in favor of landlordism (which should be obvious), I’m making the comment to make sure I am on the same page as everybody else.

I am living in a co-op housing build 50 years ago, we all are our landlords together. We save what is needed for repairs and a bit for new construction so other people can become our share land lords, too, but that is about it.

the thing is, you could just hire people to do those things. but instead the system allows someone to leech on you and not allow you to build equity for late life so you can retire. and even when you buy a house, the banks are rentseeking in their loans
